What is a CHI Journals Presentation?

A CHI Journals presentation gives authors the opportunity to get increased exposure for their paper by presenting it at the conference while also benefiting from the greater continuity of the journal review process. CHI Journals invites selected authors of papers accepted to either ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction (ToCHI) or ACM Transactions on Social Computing (TSC) to present their work at the conference. Historically, we also have accommodated presentation slots for papers published at other HCI journals, but invitations to such papers depend on the availability of space.

Submissions to CHI Journals are by INVITATION ONLY. Invitations will be sent by the CHI Journals chair (journals@chi2025.acm.org) to the corresponding author of papers. Invited authors are then required to submit details on their paper to PCS. All unsolicited submissions will be rejected.

Invitations are usually made within one year of a paper being accepted by the journal. For example, papers being invited for presentations at CHI 2025 will normally have been accepted between November 2023 and October 2024. Authors should also be aware that each ToCHI and TSC paper can be presented at only one ACM conference.

Invited authors who would like to present their papers at CHI 2025 must make a complete submission in PCS. Any submission that is incomplete or that does not fulfill the requirements for presentation at the conference )will not be considered for inclusion in the program (e.g., failure of submitting video presentations). Authors are required to present their work in a scheduled session with other CHI Papers. The details of the presentation formats (e.g. duration, and live/pre-recorded presentation) will be sent by email to the corresponding author.

ACM’s Publication Policies

It is critical that authors review ACM’s publications policies. Please read this separate page for them.

Video Presentations

All accepted authors are required to upload a video presentation (a presentation video of your accepted work) by the video presentation deadline of Thursday March 13, 2025. See technical requirements for video content at CHI as a guidance for preparing a video presentation. Accepted authors will receive the details of video presentations separately.

If authors fail to submit their video presentations by the deadline, their accepted work would be withdrawn from the ACM Digital Library.

Unlike previous years, CHI 2025 has decided not to collect video previews (30-second videos to show the core idea of your work), and authors do not need to prepare them.

At the Conference

A presenting author must register to the conference and present their work at the conference synchronously in-person or remotely. Otherwise, their presentation would be removed from the conference program. Further instructions regarding the presentation of the work will be shared closer to the conference dates.
