CHI 2025 is organized as a hybrid event to include as many participants as we can. We hope to create a great experience for everyone – whether they are onsite or online!
In CHI 2025, online tools are used for different purposes, as explained below. For the reasoning behind this year’s CHI hybrid approach, please read this blog post.
You can ask questions in Discord or by sending email to the hybrid chairs: hybrid@chi2025.acm.org
SIGCHI Programs PWA (Progressive Web App)
The SIGCHI Programs Progressive Web App (PWA) can be used in a web browser, and is mobile-friendly. You can add it as a shortcut on your iOS or Android homescreen for easier access. To take full advantage of features such as personalized schedules, note-taking, and comments, we recommend logging into the PWA with your ACM credentials. The CHI 2025 landing page is https://programs.sigchi.org/chi/2025/program
The PWA is used to keep track of the program in real-time, manage your personal schedule and reading lists, and to facilitate asynchronous Q&A and discussions for the following tracks:
- Papers
- Case Studies of HCI in Practice
- Late-Breaking Work
- Interactivity
- alt.chi
- Journals
Login & User Account:
Login to PWA requires a personal ACM account. This can be set up for free at: https://accounts.acm.org/. Please make sure to use the same email address as in your CHI 2025 registration to have all features available as a registered participant. If you are using a different email address as the one you registered to the conference with, please add this as an additional email address in your profile once you log into the PWA. If you still face issues with your account not being identified as a registered attendee, please contact the conference chairs.
Personalized Conference:
You can bookmark sessions and individual talks/events to save them to your personal schedule. You can also mark items that you want to “read later”, and take down private notes within each content item.
Discussions:
You can comment on and discuss a particular session or individual content item (such as paper) by browsing or searching for it in the technical program. There is a comment box below each content item/paper.
Troubleshooting & Feedback:
If you face any technical issues with the PWA, or have any feedback, please contact the developer team using the “Send Feedback” button.
Discord
Discord is used for General Discussions including overall research topics but also social chatting during CHI 2025. It requires a personal account to log in. A personal account can be created for free at https://discord.com/. With this, you can join the CHI 2025 Discord. If you are completely new to Discord – this is a helpful resource to get started: Beginner’s Guide to Discord
There are a few steps to get full access to the Discord:
-
- You need a Discord account with a verified email.
- Join the Discord via this link https://discord.gg/connect-at-chi2025
- After joining you should see 5 channels: #first-steps, #code-of conduct, #help-desk and #help-desk-talk and #hybrid-faq.
- If this link somehow does not work please try the following: Click “add a server” > “Join a server” and put the link in there.
- Accept the Code of Conduct by clicking on the accept button.
-
-
- You will be prompted to provide your registration email address. After providing it please click “get full access”.
- If you do not know which email address you registered with – try searching for the email subject: Registration Confirmed | CHI 2025
- The CHI25 Bot running in the background will rename your server nickname (the name you are displayed with) to the name on your registration (within a given character length). Feel free to adapt your server nickname (don’t know how? Here is a guide) – but please keep a clear name (see also #code-of-conduct)!
- After successfully completing the steps you should now have full access to the Discord and see a variety of sections and channels.
-
Now that you are on the Discord 🥳: Please introduce yourself in #👋-introduce-yourself. You can start by stating your name and affiliation and tell us a little about yourself (e.g. research interest or is this your first CHI?). Have a look around, there are channels for socialising, for some of the hybrid tracks (Keynotes, Panels and Award Talks), the SIGs and more. Just have a look – most channels have a short description on what they are about.
You need help or have a question?
- Ask any questions that you may have at the #help-desk and #help-desk-talk channel.
- Check out the #first-steps and #hybrid-faq channels.
- During the conference hours of CHI (April 26 – May 1) there will be an ‘sv-on-duty’ (highlighted on the right side in the desktop app) you can also directly ask questions. – outside these hours please be patient, someone will help you!
- If you want to ask questions regarding a particular paper or other content item, please use PWA, as outlined above.
If you have any questions about Discord and do not want or cannot use Discord, you can write us an email to hybrid@chi2025.acm.org.
Slido
Slido is used for synchronous Q&A during the keynotes. It does not require a personal account and both in-person and remote attendees can use it.
The slido link can be found in the PWA. There will also be a physical QR Code at the conference.
Upon entering Slido, you may need to choose the correct session room before typing your questions.
Zoom Webinar for Opening/Closing Plenary, Award/Panel Talks, and Townhall
Zoom Webinar is used for remote attendees to participate in remote sessions:
- Opening/Closing Plenary including Keynotes
- Award talks
- Panel talks
- Townhall
You can find Zoom Webinar URLs on PWA. Those URLs are available for registered attendees and will be available just before the conference starts.
Oral presentations (papers, journals, alt.chi, case studies) are not live-streamed. Please use PWA to watch pre-recorded videos.
Zoom Rooms for Auto-Captioning
Zoom meeting is used for captioning as an accessibility feature. It is only for generating automated captions for accessibility for in-person attendees – it is not for remote attendees. If you plan to use auto-captioning, please be prepared to install the Zoom app on your mobile devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, laptops) before you arrive at the conference venue.
- All rooms at the conference will be supported with a Zoom link for captioning.
- Zoom will only record the presenter’s audio to generate captions that all in-person attendees can access.
- The links to join the Zoom for captioning will be available in physical QR Codes at the corresponding sessions in the conference venue.
- As an in-person attendee, you can read the captions on your personal device by logging into the same session (also using the QR code in the room).
- During these sessions, please turn off the sound of the device you are using to read the captions.
